Self Reflection
Identity:
The website needs to have an obvious identity so people can clearly identify the topic of research.
Components that do this:
Title - The Power of Story - is clearly situated on the home page. |
Things I needed to do:
To continually go back to my home page to ensure that the content was consistent with the identity of the website. |
Purpose:
The purpose needs to clearly articulated and obvious to the readers and viewers of the website.
Components that do this:
The purpose is articulated on the home page and identifies the key drivers of the research -
|
Things I needed to do:
Continually review and refine the content of the website to ensure that it aligned with the purpose. The purpose also was refined as the website was created and new possibilities and limitations became apparent. |
Appeal:
An obvious attempt to make the website appealing through graphics, colour and careful organisation of components so that it is visually appealing.
Components that do this:
Use of pictures throughout the website that provide metaphors for the content. Use of colour that draws the attention of the viewer without distracting the senses. The use of subtle colours such as mauve, shades of back and grey, and colours that pick up from the images. Amount of text per page is kept to a minimum. |
Things I needed to do:
Search for images that were free to use and not protected by copyright laws. Search for images that were metaphors for the content and created stories within themselves. Experiment and play with different colours and size of text. Break up pages into sub-pages in order to reduce the amount of text and therefore scrolling per page. |
Organisation:
The components are carefully laid out and there is an ease of use.
Components that do this:
The pages are carefully planned out with the tabs across the top of the website. Some sections have sub-sections in order to reduce the number of tabs going across the top of the website, and to chunk them into logically related sections. Clearly provide names fro each section and page. |
Things I needed to do:
Test out a number of different ways of organising the tabs. Learn how to make sub-sections. Review the chunking of sections to ensure that they were not becoming too big in themselves. Match my section and page names carefully to suit the content. |
Information:
Provision of information related to the Action Research Project.
Components that do this:
Within each of the sections, I have provided relevant information. This includes -
|
Things I needed to do:
Carefully decide which information to include and which to exclude, being respectful of the subjects. Appreciate who the audience would be and tailor the content to suit the audience. |
Links:
Provide relevant links to other resources, including websites, videos, empirical research.
Components that do this:
Links to-
|
Things I needed to do:
Ensure that I was not breaching copyright laws for links to empirical research. Ensure the links were all working in the published website. |
Interactivity:
Interactive space that allows people to make contact and provide further information that can be integrated.
Components that do this:
A blog page has been added that tracks the journey and allows for reader comments. A contact form allows for anyone to provide private feedback, questions, information or interest in the project. |
Things I needed to do:
Clarify which areas of my thinking and learning would suit the blog page. Learn how to add contact forms. |
