The players
To develop a deeper understanding of the impact of story on identity, pride and connectedness to the school, I will be working alongside a number of people within the school community.
The students
There will be a particular emphasis on Year Prep and year 5/6 students, however, due to small numbers in the school it may be beneficial to look more broadly across the whole school.
The families
Parents and guardians will play an important part in the action research process. Interested family members will be identified in participating in the study.
The teachers
The Year Prep and the Year 5/6 teachers will be integral to the study and work closely with their students to build awareness of the impact of story on their affective and cognitive engagement in learning, and connectedness to school.
The leadership team
The leadership team will help to drive the action research and play a big part in helping me analyse and clarify the information gathered and set the action plans.
The partners
Along with the above key players, there will partnerships with creative educational organisations and professional learning bodies. These organisations have a lot to offer in their professional capacity, their research knowledge and understanding of the culturally and linguistically diverse communities.
