The story begins...
The Power of Story is the focus of my action research project for my Masters in School Leadership. It begins at the beginning of my new leadership position in a small inner city school - a position as the new school principal. However, for my students, the families and the surrounding community, it is a story that is ever changing and evolving. The staff, students and families have been part of the story. For some they are recent additions but for others they have been part of the school narrative since the school opened in the mid 1970s.
Unlocking the story
My part of the story begins as I unlock the narratives of the school. It begins as I discover the histories, the motivations, and the identities of the players.
Throughout the action research, I will be looking at statistical evidence as well as interviewing, observing, and recording to gain a deeper understanding of how 'story' can help to affectively and cognitively engage the learner and build a sense of pride, identity and connectedness to their school community.
